UTB AND UEGCL STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP TO ADVANCE HYDROPOWER TOURISM IN UGANDA.
The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and the Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) have signed a Re-engagement Letter to advance the development of hydropower tourism experiences at Karuma, Isimba, and Nalubaale–Kiira. The renewed partnership aims to create immersive visitor experiences that highlight Uganda’s energy infrastructure, engineering excellence, environmental stewardship, and the community value chains supported by these facilities.
Through this collaboration, UTB and UEGCL will work together to complete product testing, strengthen visitor interpretation and safety, develop monumental signage, and prepare branded merchandise ahead of the upcoming launch of the hydropower tourism product at Karuma. These efforts are part of a broader goal to diversify Uganda’s tourism offerings and create new avenues for learning, exploration, and meaningful engagement with the country’s modern infrastructure.
By elevating hydropower sites into well-curated attractions, the partnership is opening new tourism frontiers and showcasing Uganda’s innovation, natural beauty, and engineering heritage to both domestic and international visitors.
