The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), in close partnership with the Ministry of Works and Transport, recently undertook a site visit to the proposed Jinja Bridge stopover point together with a potential investor.
The proposed stopover point is strategically located at the gateway to Jinja City, with an underpass providing direct access to the Source of the Nile Bridge. Its location positions it as a critical entry point for visitors traveling to Jinja City, the Source of the Nile, and other tourism attractions beyond the area.
The site visit was conducted to assess the development potential of the stopover point, taking into account its prime location, accessibility, and strategic importance within Uganda’s tourism circuit. The stopover is envisioned to enhance visitor experience by providing a functional and attractive pause point for travelers accessing one of the country’s most iconic destinations.
During the visit, the potential investor expressed strong interest and was impressed by the site’s location and strategic value. Following the engagement, further discussions have commenced to explore possible investment and development options for the stopover facility.
The initiative aligns with ongoing efforts by UTB and government partners to strengthen tourism-supporting infrastructure, improve visitor services, and unlock investment opportunities in key tourism corridors. Developments such as the proposed Jinja Bridge stopover are expected to contribute to enhanced destination appeal and improved travel experiences for both domestic and international visitors.
