UGANDA TOURISM BOARD JOINS LUO LEGACY DINNER 2026 AND LAUNCH OF DIGITAL LUO MUSEUM

August 8, 2026

The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) was represented at the Luo Legacy Dinner 2026, held at Sheraton Kampala Hotel, an event that also marked the official launch of the Digital Luo Museum.

Held under the theme “Building Bridges, Inspiring Change through Culture, Heritage, Tourism & Innovation,” the dinner brought together cultural leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, innovators, and partners to celebrate the richness of Luo culture and explore opportunities to preserve and promote its heritage.

The Digital Luo Museum is a landmark initiative dedicated to preserving Luo culture, stories, traditions, and indigenous knowledge in digital form. By leveraging technology, the platform seeks to make this rich heritage more accessible to audiences in Uganda and the global Luo diaspora, while creating opportunities for learning, research, and cultural engagement.

The event further highlighted the important role of culture and heritage as tourism assets, with significant potential to contribute to cultural tourism, education, research, innovation, and community development.

For Uganda’s tourism sector, initiatives such as the Digital Luo Museum demonstrate how technology can complement traditional heritage preservation while opening new avenues for audiences to discover, engage with, and appreciate Uganda’s diverse cultural identity.

The Uganda Tourism Board remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote Uganda’s cultural heritage and position culture as a key component of the country’s tourism offering.
