Tourism stakeholders, cycling clubs and associations, the wider sports fraternity and media gathered for the official launch of Race the Nile, Uganda’s first-ever 800km self-supported gravel biking race across the West Nile region.
The five-day race will start and finish in Arua City, taking riders across the districts of West Nile on a journey that combines endurance, adventure and destination discovery.
Beyond the race itself, the event offers an opportunity to showcase West Nile as one of Uganda’s raw, undiscovered frontiers — highlighting the region’s rich cultural heritage, diverse communities, unique food traditions, landscapes, and authentic experiences.
Through events like Race the Nile, Uganda continues to harness the potential of sports tourism to open up more of the country for exploration, giving visitors new reasons to experience the Pearl of Africa.
