Kampala, January 8, 2026 — The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) Quality Assurance (QA) team held a technical engagement with the management of Kampala Marriott Hotel and Apartments at the Kampala Marriott Hotel and Apartments as part of preparations ahead of the property’s anticipated opening.
The meeting focused on providing guidance on licensing requirements and grading operational systems, in line with Uganda’s tourism accommodation standards, as well as reviewing progress towards the hotel’s planned opening at the end of April 2026.
Supporting Compliance and Quality Standards
During the engagement, UTB’s QA representatives guided the Marriott management team through the regulatory framework governing hotel licensing and grading in Uganda. The session included a review of the hotel’s operational systems to assess alignment with the required standards.
Key areas were discussed, and opportunities for improvement were identified to ensure the property meets all necessary criteria for licensing and grading prior to opening.
Opening Preparations on Track
Both teams confirmed that the target opening date remains the end of April, with ongoing efforts focused on finalizing operational systems and addressing outstanding requirements within the agreed timelines.
