July 23, 2025 – The Uganda delegation to the 2nd UN Tourism and ICAO Ministerial Conference on Tourism and Air Transport in Africa, led by the Minister of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities, Hon. Tom R. Butime, held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Tourism for Angola, Hon. Marcio Daniel, on the sidelines of the ongoing conference.
The meeting was also attended by Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) Board Director Olive Lumonya and focused on strengthening collaboration between the two countries in the areas of tourism development, knowledge sharing, and regional cooperation.
During the cordial discussions, both parties acknowledged the importance of building strong tourism linkages across Africa to promote intra-African travel, enhance air connectivity, and position the continent as a competitive global destination.
Hon. Butime emphasized Uganda’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Angola, especially in areas such as destination marketing, capacity building, investment promotion, and sustainable tourism practices. He noted that both countries share untapped tourism potential that could be harnessed through strategic partnerships.
In a gesture of goodwill and cultural exchange, Hon. Butime presented a gift to Hon. Marcio Daniel, symbolizing Uganda’s hospitality and appreciation for the growing ties between the two nations.
The bilateral engagement reaffirmed the shared vision of Uganda and Angola to work together in promoting inclusive, resilient, and sustainable tourism across the continent.
The 2nd UN Tourism and ICAO Ministerial Conference brings together key decision-makers from across Africa to discuss the critical role of air transport in the growth and transformation of the tourism industry.
